NORTH WARD GRAFFITI CLEAN UP DAY

WHAT: Earth Day Graffiti Cleanup
WHEN: Saturday, April 18, 2009
WHERE: Meeting Place at Broadway and Chester Avenue
TIME: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

NEWARK – North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr., in celebration of Earth Day, is sponsoring a graffiti clean up day targeting a number of high incident areas around the North Ward. Councilman Ramos has identified graffiti as a major quality of life issue in the North Ward and has undertaken a number of measures to combat the problem. The Councilman has spearheaded the establishment of a taskforce which includes the police department and neighborhood services to address the graffiti problem. Moreover, Councilman Ramos is offering a personal donation to the City's CrimeStoppers Program which the city will be using to encourage residents to offer tips leading to the successful arrest and prosecution of graffiti criminals.

The event is part of Councilman Ramos' continued commitment to improving the quality of life in the North Ward. This event is being held in collaboration with the ASPIRA, Inc. of New Jersey.
