COUNCILMAN RAMOS EXTENDS NORTH WARD SCHOLARSHIP
FUND (NWSF) DEADLINE UNTIL JUNE 28, 2007

Newark, NJ - June 18, 2007 - Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr. announced the 2007 North Ward High School Senior Essay Contest deadline has been extended until 5:00 PM Thursday, June 28, 2007. The original deadline required all essays be postmarked no later than Friday, May 25. This is the First Annual North Ward Scholarship Fund (NWSF) founded by Councilman Ramos in partnership with The Latino Institute, Inc. All North Ward residents who are 12th Grade Seniors attending a public, private, parochial school, home school or participating in a high school correspondence program in Newark are eligible. Additionally, all participants must demonstrate acceptance into a college or university.

The North Ward continues to foster growth in it's capacity to help students achieve their developmental potential as outstanding adults and leaders, Councilman Ramos said. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our sponsors Pueblo Supermarket, Twin City Supermarket, Express Check Cashing, Inc. and The Latino Institute, Inc. We'll continue to create additional scholarships through other partnerships that believe in our youth's future.
